Attorney General Eric Holder testified on the government's gun smuggling sting "Operation Fast and Furious." A The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives ran the operation between 2009 and 2010 with the goal of bringing arms smuggling charges against Mexican drug cartel members. In the hearing Chair Issa and his Republican colleagues said that Justice Department officials were suppressing evidence of the gun-walking tactics used in the operation, which ultimately allowed hundreds of weapons to flow from the U.S. to violent Mexican drug cartels.
